Why, it's been a coon's age since I've last had this one!

Appearance: Lightly hazed, dark amber body with a thinnish, sudsy, white head.

Smell: With a whiff, a scent of spicy, grassy hops with a lesser degree of muted citrus hits the nose followed by malty tones of toasted biscuits and dry caramel.

Taste: Ah, Maris Otter, the specialty malt the really makes a pale ale sizzle with its bumped up bready, biscuity richness. Lightly sweet hints of caramel. Hops are earthy, faintly citrusy, but display a nice herbaceous grassiness. Medium-light bitterness. The beer dries out substantially on the back half, in plenty of time for the lightly bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Fairly soft mouthfeel.

Drinkability: A beer with good levels of maltiness and hoppiness and overall drinkability - just as a good pale ale should be.

On-tap at the brewpub.

Pours a hazy copper color with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of gritty pale malts with slight hints of citrus hops.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Lots of pale malt flavors up front with hints of citrus hops that come in midway through the sip and carry through until a mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It has a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I didn't have a problem finishing the glass and could have another.

Overall this is a solid APA that doesn't stand out in any single way but remains a solid beer.

On tap at the brewpub.

Pours a very hazy brownish orange with a solid creamy off-white head that recedes slowly to a collar and leaves spotty lacing.

The aroma is very light for the style and has as much malty sweetness as hops. The hops are in the form of light citrus, especially oranges, with some grassy floral notes.

The taste is also very mild and balanced with the sweetness of the caramel malt backbone carrying as much weight as the hops. The finish is clean and slightly bitter with grassy hops.

The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with low, soft carbonation and fairly crisp in the finish, though not that bitter.

This is an extremely drinkable beer and I got through the pint way too fast. That said, it's very subdued for the style with the flavors being light but well balanced. An extremely good session beer.

served on tap

Poured a nice staw color with a moderate head. Head faded pretty fast leaving no lace.

the smell was decent. Nice mix of hops and citrus. a solid smell of orange zest.

felt mostly of hops with a refreshing orange flavor. light body that needed a crisper taste.

The flavor was too mild.
