De Dulle Teve is brewed in the tradition of a Belgian Triple. Its high density stems from large amounts of pale malt increased with pale candi sugar in the brew kettle. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle-conditioned.
De Dulle Teve keeps two to three years without major changes in taste. Further maturing, up to 10 years, will cause it to darken a little and lose some of its bitterness. The bittering of about 30 IBU is due to Goldings hops in the brew kettle.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe online shop (£4.10):
Clear amber with a 4cm, foamy white head that holds really well with a lot of visible carbonation too. Fruity & fresh, yeast, banana & bubblegum with candied sugar & apple notes. The tate is similar, sweet & fruity with a good mix of Belgian yeast & spice, apples & part alongside the banana from the nose. Light-medium & quite sharp, well carbonated & sweet - decent balance too.

Copenhagen 13/8 2017. 33 cl bottle from Den Belgiske Ølbutik in Vanløse. Drawing of weird yellow lady with purple hair with lightning in the background. The Mad Bitch, I Presume.
Pours hazy orange with white head. Settles as thin layer of fluffy foam. A lot of yeast hanging around the bottom of the glass. Lacing on the side of the glass.
Aroma is citrus, humid cellar, apple and some sweet caramel.
Strong carbonation and medium thick texture.
Flavor is medium sweet and well balanced with medium bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a citric undercurrent. I did not much notice the prominent ABV. Very nice and well balanced tripel.

Foggy orange-amber with a tall khaki foam head building meringue peaks.
Quite expressive, I get pungent peachy-mango pairing with very mild white peppery phenols through an impossibly soft medium-full body. The malt is almost imperceptible. The finish is semi-dry, semi-bitter.
This is a fine tripel.

An excessively foamy pour resulted by the attempt to empty an 11.2 fluid ounce brown bottle into a clear pint glass. Slowly, the foam receded, a bit unevenly and with plenty of glass lacing left behind. The liquid is basically the color of a typical lager, light and bright copper-amber and on the translucent side. It smells mildly fruity, but thankfully the pungent esters commonly found in Belgians are held in check. This brings the expected tastes of both sweet and sour, likely from Lactobacilli, in pleasant balance; a little more on the sweet side, but not to excess. Nearly absent is the Brett yeast funkiness that can overpower other tastes in Belgians. It's not at all hoppy and there's only some bitterness to add to the sweet, tart and sour notes. Although they are all subtle, maybe except for the sweetness, this is nicely complex in what it offers the tongue. Commendable is the way the ABV is included and its potency isn't noticed until the warming in the esophagus. The mouthfeel is practically perfect for what it delivers, carrying it very well without becoming too heavy. This is good enough for those that don't like Belgians to like.

11.2oz bottle into tulip glass
A: medium sized head in off-white appearance. Body of the beer is hazy, dark amber, almost brown.
S: Candied fruit, sugared plums, raisins. Almost faintly cider-like. Light spice maybe, or butterscotch? This is predominately sugars and fermented fruits in aroma.
T: again it is fruit forward, but more nuanced. Elements of plums, raisins, dried apricots, and wine grapes. A light spice of white pepper, very faintly other herbs, almost an angostura bitters taste. Smooth taste of rich malt. Wine-ish, spiced fruits and candied fruits mixed.
F: medium bodied. Hides its alcohol content well. This tripel feels light at times, almost crisp, but still has a syrupy feeling that moves on quickly and doesn’t weigh down the drinkability.
O: wow, this was different than I was expecting. I always feel tripels are similar to champagne in their apple/pear forwardness, this comes more as a wine. Very enjoyable to drink and a more nuanced beer for my palate to describe.

Poured from a bottle into a chalice
Appearance – The beer pours a hazed orang-amber color with a thick head of just off white foam. The head has a fantastic level of retention, holding strong, slowly fading over time and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is massive of a yeasty and bready smell mixed with tons of coriander and clove. Along with these smells comes a good showing of banana and a bit of orange along with notes of earth and herb. Rounding it all out is a bit of white pepper and some confectioners sugar, honey, and bubblegum.
Taste – The taste begins with the yeast and the bready malt that were in the nose, along with some sweetness of orange, peach, apricot, and white grapes. Along with these flavors, is also a strong showing of spice, with a big clove accompanied by some pepper and coriander. There are other flavors of apple and lychee along with notes of earth and herb. The earth and herb are light, getting a bit stronger as the taste advances, all while the sweet fades a touch. At the same time a little bit of booziness and hay work their way onto the scene, and with a slight surge of the sweet with more honey and apricot at the end, one is left with a sweet and rich, but balanced tripel taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is light and crisp with a high and effervescent carbonation level. Both the feel and carbo are fantastic for the flavor profiles and make for an easy sipper that compliments the sweet, yeast, and spice quite well.
Overall – A fantastic brew and definitely one to try. Big on flavor and highly drinkable with a very nice nature. Would certainly recommend.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - 2022 vintage, at One Pint Pub, 20241227) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, honey, spicy yeast, biscuits and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, honey, spicy yeast, fruitiness, biscuits and bitterness. Aftertaste had spicy yeast, malts and bitterness. Delicious and complex brew. The alcohol warmth was there but remained hidden enough.

Very fruity and wine-esque. Not as much spice and banana as other triples I've tried. Has an almost farmhouse ale "funkiness" mixed in. ABV is well hidden. Nice one to sit down and really try to decipher.
