330 mL bottle. Pours a murky deep amber with a small off-white head. Smells of red wine, vinegar, booze, and a little brown sugar. Doesn't taste as acidic as I remember older versions of this beer. Red wine all over. Vinegar acidity, but not overwhelming, goes back to red wine as the sourness breaks. Medium body. Well carbonated. Totally different from Oerbier. This is remarkably good.

Integrating a gorgeous red wine character and soft funk and mild acidity into the sweeter Stille Nacht base is always going to be a tightrope act, but this is executed flawlessly. The balance of fruity esters- red apples, pear -, fruity red wine,spice from yeast and also the barrel funk and tannins is special. Truly harmonious.

 

 

Deep saturated golden orange, huge head and long lasting foam. Arcs of drippy lacing.

Insane rich aromas, poached pear and apple, vinous barrel, caramelized sugars. Tastes much the same, light fruity acidity, pear, apple, quince, and gooseberry. Wow, this is deep and flavorful. Medium bodied with ample carb, rich and intense. Stille Nacht Reserva is a true old school classic.
