Draft: Poured a deep copper color ale with a small foamy head with light retention and light lacing. Aroma of candy-like brandy notes with toffee and caramelized sugar is sublime. Taste is a great mix between sweet Brandy notes with candies and toffee notes with deep caramelized sugar notes. Body is quite full with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with the barrel-aging adding great quality to the mix while retaining a good balance between drinkability and complexity.

Sampled in Fall of 2010. This beer is a brandy barrel aged version of their seasonal scotch ale. It used to be available in barrels only, but now they just relesed 96 bottles of this 2010 vintage to the public. The oak vanilla aromas bring a sense of completion to this scotch ale. A great boozy oaky thickness, and a reduced carbonation due to the barrel aging brings it the body that finally matches its awesomne sweet-side mouthfeel. The earthy bitterness that used to leave a dry, but pleasant bite on the tongue now bring subtle nuances to the caramels, and what I perceive as earthy musty "green".
I cant wait to try this in bottle format once it has aged a bit. I only wish that the word will get out there to provide adequate reward to BDT for this great beer.
