473 mL can from the LCBO; coded 8204, served barely chilled and reviewed from notes. This is the third or fourth can I've had over the last few months.
Pours a hazy, translucent golden-orange hue, topped with an inch of soapy, foamy white head. It seeps steadily off over the next two or three minutes, imprinting some spotty lace as it recedes to a smooth collar. Looks good, and the aroma is basically on point for a witbier - zested orange peel and coriander are both noticeable, dispersed amidst a backdrop of bready malts, wheat sweetness and gritty grain husks.
Tastes along the same lines - grainy wheat and bready pale malts provide most of the substance, with citrusy orange peel being the only other major element of note. Coriander spiciness comes through prior to a yeasty finish with hints of grassy, herbal hops; no real bitterness to speak of, however, which is not unheard of for a wit. Light-medium in body, with middling carbonation levels that gingerly brush against the tongue; feels smooth and relatively soft on the palate. Pretty refreshing, with very high drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.39, a B-. Great Western's Original 16 Prairie White is an acceptable summer thirst quencher, but it's not the most impressive wit I've ever had - more of a Shock Top than a Hoegaarden, if you catch my drift. Its flavours are inoffensive and approachable, with low spiciness overall, which makes for a rather dull and/or tepid wit experience. Worth the tick; the price is about right, but it's still not something I'd go out of my way for.

473ml can - seems more like a witbier to me, but what do I know?
This beer pours a cloudy, medium golden yellow colour, with two fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly creamy bone-white head, which leaves some approaching iceberg profile lace around the glass as it slowly and evenly subsides.
It smells of bready and crackery cereal malt, some musty yeastiness, indistinct domestic citrus rind, a further grainy wheatiness, and a bit of earthy coriander spice. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, wet Wheat Thins, faint generic citrus peel, some coriander and white pepper spiciness, plain estery yeast, and some ethereal leafy, herbal, and floral green hoppiness.
The carbonation is average in its palate-coating frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, with just a touch of astringent yeasty character making a bit of fuss at this point in the game. It finishes trending dry, the general grain essence predominating.
Overall - this is pretty much what it claims to be, that is, a 'prairie white', um, 'beer' (I'm inclined to believe that it's still a lager). Inoffensive, and easy enough to put back on a hot summer day, but don't go in looking for a whole lot of complexity here.
