To be precise, Puttner's Einfach's Vollbier Hell (with a blue label sporting the Bavaria blue and white) is a good lunch lager. How I drink typically is with a meal. But if you do sessions with lagers, this may suit you also.
Bought at 7 Seasons Bar & Bottle Shop on Hoxton, I scored a number of interesting Bavarian brews... Oktoberfest, I presume, being one its 7 Seasons.
This Hell Looks only slightly above average as its foam could last longer. Same for Smells, mostly malt but not much penetrates. Tastes are well-balanced, just enough hops. While the long finish carries something slightly metallic, I'm transcendent about it. Almost medium-mouthed in a typically soft style..
Midway between Bamberg and the Czech border, Puttner is not hard-core Bavarian... but like many southern brewers, they don't have an English translation button. But from looking at the photos, I gather Puttner is a farm-to-taproom operation with a hotel in their small town. Knowing anything more is too much work. Hence, just average Overall Hugs.
