Reddish copper in color, the Irish Red has a malty, toffee like aroma and a nice off-white head. Caramel, toffee, and a slightly roasty malt flavor dominate as the English hops are in the background.

From draft at Kirkwood Station. Beautiful copper color with a thin butter color head.
Smells mild, slightly sweet biscuit malt with a touch of hops.
Flavor follows. Nice balance of malts up front, slight sweetness and just enough hops in the finish to be clean and fairly dry.
Smooth mouthfeel. Not overly carbonated. Medium body. Not too heavy.
4.5% alcohol makes for easy session drinking without having to call for a cab.

A very nice, malty, toasty red ale. The flavor was pleasant for the most part. The oddest characteristic though, was a mild after taste of cigarettes. I know it sounds crazy, but our entire group of four tasted the same exact thing. It wasn't necessarily unpleasant, but was strange. If this odd flavor would not have been present, I would have rated it even higher.

Would purchase again, but was not one of the best brews of the night.
