A traditional Scottish session Ale or also called an 80 shilling or Export. Dark copper in color with a light tan head, this beer is malty, slightly fruity with a touch of smoke.

From draft. Pours a deep but clear copper color with a 2 finger butter color head.
Scent is mild malts up front with a hint of hop. Just a hint.
Flavor is malt forward as it should be for the style. Not overly sweet.
Just enough hops In The finish to be clean and dry.
There are no over tones, under tones that do not belong in this style.
This is not an American version of a Scottish ale.
This is an excellent example of what a true Scottish ale should look, smell and taste like.
Having had many of this style, and this being my favorite style, I can say this ranks right up there.

Now this was a nice and very drinkable session scotch ale, as it weighs in at a reasonable 5%.
Good looking deep mahogany brown, with no head - but it was the bartender's first day on the job (and as a bartender too) whom was filling them stadium style.
Very tasty brew, enjoyed the sweet caramel and malt - with a distinguished undertone of smoked peat, light and enticing. Had several of these and the easy alcohol did not negatively influence me.

Pours a cloudy, dark brown color. One inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and slight lacing. Smells of slight hops, sweet malt, and yeast. Fits the style of a Scottish Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, yeast, and slight hops. Overall, good appearance, but weak aroma and body.
