Style: Milk / Sweet Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 3.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
It is a low alcohol, sweet and smooth stout. It is balanced with the addition of Kenyan coffee to the finished beer which gives it a nice roasted flavor. This beer is loaded with flaked oats and milk sugar that gives it that cream and coffee breakfast taste.

$ 1.85 (Including tax)/12 oz bottle ($ 0.154/oz) at Max Wine & Spirits, Danbury, CT
Undated 12 oz bottle at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter
Aroma – roasted malt, weak
Head large (Maximum 4.8 cm, aggressive pour), light brown, frothy, diminishing to one cm frothy ring with drag marks and a frothy partial layer
Lacing fair – melting frothy partial ring with small to medium bubbles
Body – dark brown/black, opaque
Flavor – starts moderately bitter and a slight taste of instant coffee, some roasted malt. No hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate – medium, watery, soft carbonation

A not particularly good attempt at a coffee stout, kind of like the brewmaster was checking the stout, accidently spilled his morning coffee in it, and decided to release it as a coffee stout. One and done.

Tasted again July 2015 at home. Growler chilled to refrigerator temperature, poured into highball glass. Good overall flavor with less malt body perceived than at initial encounter at the brewery (earlier review below). head was not long-lasting. Lower alcohol content a definite positive attribute -- it goes down easy and invites refills.

nice stout tasted at the brewery tap in a plastic glass 3/2/16. Good stout with at most a hint of the coffee addition. Excellent balance among the hops, malt body, and roasted malt. I like it.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. the beer ours a rich dark cola brown color with some garnet tints on the edges of the glass.
A minor beige creamy head foams up and fades quickly to a thin edge layer.
Aroma is roasted malt and a little coffee ground, but is overall very mild.
First sip reveals a fairly light body with very fine tingly carbonation.
Flavor is roasted malt and a bit of brown sugar. Again, very mild flavor similar to the mild nose.
The beer is very drinkable but could use a little more flavor, I know it can be done, even with these lower alcohol beers.
The beer isnt flawed but certainly isnt very interesting nor exciting. Not sure I would buy it again.

Dark almost opaque appearance. Mild head and carbonation. Heavy coffee aroma. I'd definitely be down with this in the morning if the smell is any indication. Again, heavy coffee flavor. We like our coffee black so we really appreciate the flavor. The coffee overwhelms any other flavors it might have. Bottom line: if you love black coffee and the flavor of coffee itself you will probably like this beer.

Only stout to date that I've ever poured down the sink. Really enjoyed Long Ireland's extra special bitter which isn't even a profile I usually go for, but I couldn't even finish this one. It tasted and felt like someone ruined a good stout by blending it with a cup of weak coffee.

Delicious!! Full of flavor and low in alcohol. Smooth finish and great coffee flavor w a slight sour complexity. I could absolutely imagine having one of these w breakfast and hitting the slopes bra!!

Pours out black with a decent nose of pungent coffee grinds.

Decent coffee flavor, smooth and easy drinker. The really light mouth feel is very noticeable right away. A bit watery at times and really just not as strong tasting as I would like it to be.
