Bottle from the Brewery.
Pours a solid dark brown with the faintest of garnet at the edges when in front of light. Smallish creamy tan head shows moderate retention. Aroma hits up front with lots of roasted grain, dark chocolate, and caramel. There's a light vanilla as well as a non descript sugary aroma in there as well. I couldn't find much maple in the nose, but maybe that contributed to the sugary sweetness. Little to no hop aroma. The flavor is roast and chocolate up front but that gets swept away pretty quickly with brown sugar and vanilla. Moderate roasted grain and light earthy hop bitterness linger on the finish of every sip. Light earthy hop flavor is just about consumed by the bolder roasted elements here. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and lightly creamy velvety mouthfeel. I couldn't find any maple flavor or aroma, but I did really enjoy this porter.
