Draft only at the brewery, growler sampled at home.
Pours a solid black with a thin wispy tan head that dissipates almost instantly. Aromas of roast, caramel and chocolate with hints of dark dried fruits and a touch of ethanol. The flavor is more caramel and brown sugar than coffee and chocolate except in the finish which leaves a lingering roasted grain bitterness. Dark dried fruit with hints of molasses round out the flavor nicely. Medium to thick body with a sticky silky almost syrupy mouthfeel and a faint level of carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden which is nice. The carbonation could use a little boost, but that could be the growler loss at work. Nice sipper for a snowy Saturday.
