Pours dark brown. Minimal head, that's off white. Some carbonation rising in the glass.
The nose has some barrel notes. Slightly boozy smelling.
The taste is a bit mellow up front. The flavor then does kick in after, but there's not a lot there - maybe due to the age on it. It does some wood flavor to it.
It is lighter bodied, a lot lighter than I was expecting, due to the ABV. It does have a slight crisp feel to it. It isn't boozy feeling, and no burn, but I can tell that it is higher octane.
It's good, I just wonder how it would have been fresh.

Bottle from the brewery.
Pure dark brown with hints of garnet at the edges and a smallish off white head that dissipates quickly. Caramel brown, sugar, light toast, hints of chocolate, vanilla, and smoke make up the nose on this one. The flavor is a bit sugary sweet but countered very nicely with hints of smoke, caramel, chocolate, and light roast. Very nice beer.

From the 650 ml. bottle no. 466 of 750 and dated January 2015. Sampled February 1, 2015.
The pour is almost black but up to the light is is dark brown with a light tan head. Opaque.
The aroma is wooden and full of dark malts. A little booze.
Medium body but creamy and smooth.
The taste is definitely dark and sweet but that alcohol bite floats around in the background. Nice finish.
