From the 16 oz. can acquired and sampled on November 20, 2021.
The appearance is chestnut brown mostly with hints of yellow and red hues against the light. A modest dissipating tan head.
The blackcurrants are the first sensation I pick up in the pungent aroma. Then there are roasted dark malts, caramel, butterscotch, and fine chocolate esters. Earthy. I do not notice and alcohol.
Medium to full mouthfeel and smooth.
The taste is sweet and then there is a burst of blackcurrants (as promised) with a low to moderate profile roasted malt character, light chocolate, and earth. But at the very end there is this mild tart bite, which is just enough to make me remember this beer. Again no booze. Not as warming as other quadruples I have had but very interesting.
