This Belgian Style Dark Ale was brewed during a demo with Jasper’s Homebrew Shop. Made with an extra helping of Special B, a dark specialty malt. The beer was then aged on oak chips for a smooth finish. A true example of the homebrewers spirit!

Pours a slightly cloudy dark brown with a skimpy tan head that quickly dissipates to a ring but never totally leaves. Wow that smells great. Slightly vinous with a nice shot of oak right up front with lots of caramel and dark fruits like prunes plums and raisins. Taste follows the smell really well but really intensifies the fruit. Up front I get a bit of caramel and dark sugar with a little bit of a spicy earthy edge. Vanilla and oak come up next along with a bit of alcohol heat. Finish leaves your palette sticky with caramel and heavy raisin and prune residue. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. Wow that is a nice beer. Its kind of a mash up of a Belgian strong and a dopplebock on oak chips that I think were soaked in wine? Too bad there's a slim chance of me scoring another bottle.
