BEER INFO

Brewed by:
White Birch Brewing
New Hampshire, United States | website

Style: Belgian Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.10%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
A Patersbier (or Father’s beer) is traditionally brewed within Belgian monasteries for the Monks’ own consumption and not sold to the public. Kerry’s interpretation features a slightly spicy nose, soft pilsner malt body and a semi-dry finish. The result is a delicious beer whether meditating alone or sharing with friends.

As Kerry moves on, we raise a toast and hope you enjoy this beer as much as we do.

a: This was a lightly hazy golden wheat color. It poured with a medium sized fizzy cap that faded to light lace.

s: Sweet maltiness, honey and some muted, sugary tropical fruit. Some peppery yeast as well. As it warmed some earthiness emerged. Great nose, lots of fun to swirl and sniff this one.

t: I was a little worried when I saw that this bottle was a year old, but I needn't have been. This has clearly held up fine. Sweet grains, honey/candi sugar, and a light peppery finish. Everything comes together very harmoniously.

m: Softly full bodied and kind of creamy.

o: Deceptively simple and deeply satisfying. Thanks B and E for bringing this down from Mass.

Presented to my meager palette at the start of a long weekend. Pours a slightly hazy deep lemonade color with a stingy white head that slowly dissipates to a cap. Smells of sweet honey and grainy pilsner malt with a bit of a sweet candied citrus edge. Hints of pepper, earth, and spice round out the nose quite nicely. The flavor is solidly on the malt side of the see saw with lots of sweet honey graininess going on. Some orange and lemony fruitiness mixed with a hints of earth and pepper round out the flavor solidly. Crisp level of carbonation with a medium body and a sweet bubbly mouthfeel. This is a very nice beer! Clean, simple, flavorful, easy drinking. I might have to go get a few more of these before they are all gone.
