Wow, four years… time flies when you’re having fun! It has been a wild ride and all along we’ve grown because of support from friends like you.
To celebrate turning four, we offer our take on an American original – The Wheat Wine Ale. Copper in color with sweet malts, fruit notes and a nice spiciness. It’s full bodied with a semi-dry finish courtesy of the Belgian yeast we used to ferment it.
Thank you for your continued support of our dream.

A: The beer is clear amber in color in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a sort off white head that quickly died down, leaving a bit of lacing on the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of Belgian candi sugars are present in the nose along with notes of toffee and caramel.
T: The taste mostly follows the smell and is dominated by flavors of Belgian candi sugars and some sweetness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and a little clean on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation. The wheat base definitely makes this feel lighter than you would expect.
O: This beer tastes sweeter compared to other wheatwines but doesn't seem syrupy or heavy given the lighter body base.
Note: Bottled June 2013, Bottle #934 of 1248

From bottle no. 98 out of 1,248. June 2013 bottling date. Sampled on August 25, 2013.
It has a reddish tone to the pour with a fluffy off-white head that diminishes rather quickly. Some lacing left in its wake.
On the nose is the White Birch Belgian style house yeast intermixing with mild malts, cherry, and brown sugar. Sweetness is a good definition.
The body is in the medium range but it is quite delicate on my tongue.
The flavor tends to be on the sweet side, which for a wheatwine may not impress some. However I find it refreshing and drinkable because of it. The alcohol is clearly well-integrated into the beer. Short lingering finish.

Pours a decent thicker rich bubbly 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, nice lacing too, pretty good head for a 9% beer, mostly clear darker red, a bit dark auburn light cranberry hue.
Nose is malty and sweet, big reddish candy malts, candied apple like candy covering, caramel, toffee and nut brittle crunch like candy, and into big wheat aromas, plenty of wheat, a darker wheat like a bock as well, somewhat nutty too, some light yeasty and with esters, some light phenolic booze as well.
Taste starts with the candy malts again, fairly sweet overall but lots of candy flavors, tons of caramel and toffee, some amber reddish malts, again nice nutty flavor with a little peanut brittle, candied apple flavors again, as well as nice wheat characters again a dark wheat like a bock and lots of generic malts and amber reddish candy malts, with some warming booze and hints of esters and phenols, and some fruity flavors from them. Again a slight yeast flavor comes through with the light warming slightly tingly booze. The phenols start to get a little stronger as it warms too, with a lttle bit of chemically flavor from it. Finish is drier but still a bit sticky, surprisingly not syrupy throughout, bit more warming tingly booze on the finish, more candy sweet flavors, little phenolic and some fruity flavors.
Mouth is med to fuller bod, decent carb, some warming tingly booze.
Overall not bad, nice wheat wine characters with good malts and candy sweet flavors without getting syrupy surprisingly, good esters and fruit, phenols start nice but get a little too overpowering as it goes, booze is in line where it should be, so a decent beer.

Bottle from Bert's
Pours a crystal clear reddish amber color with a huge fluffy tan head dissipates slowly leaving a moderate amount of lace. Smells of sweet brown sugar with apple and cherry sweetness coming through pretty strong. Light candy sugar and bready yeasty phenols round out the nose nicely. The flavor follows the nose quite well, a sweet malty beverage with hints of fruit spice and yeast. There's a light spicy almost tart character here, but I'm not sure I'd call this a wheat wine it's more Belgian strong Dark to me. Medium to thick body with a sweet almost sticky mouthfeel and a moderate level of carbonation. Very nice brew very flavorful and clean, a hint sweet but I can live with that.

Had on tap at Churchkey.
Pours a dark red/copper color. Off-white head with good carbonation that disappears quickly, leaving light lacing on the glass.
Smell is dominated by sweet bready malts, wheat, hints of spice.
Taste follows the nose, only sweeter. Bananas, candied sugar, apple, vaguely reminds me of an alcoholic grape juice. Finishes very dry, which is nice after the sweetness.
Overall, straight-forward interpretation of a wheatwine, enjoyable, but still a wheatwine.
