Mahogany color with 1 ½ fingers of khaki tan head when I got it. Sporadic lacing on the sides, decent retention on the top.
Smelled dark cherry, tobacco, dark red wine (maybe sherry?).
Tasted much better than the smell. Got toffee, caramel, bourbon barrels, juniper berries, tobacco, sherry and overall a warming feel.
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish.
A decent barleywine that grew on me as it went down. I’d have it again. That 12.5 percent alcohol certainly helps.
