Look: Coppery brown with a mall 1/2 finger off white head. After 5 minutes there is a small light head across the top of the glass.
Smell: Raisins, caramel, and plum. The odour is very pleasent, but slight. It would earn higher points if the smell were stronger.
Taste: Caramel, pumpernickel bread, slight taste of black licorice. Sharp in the middle of the drink, and a little bitter at the end.
Feel: Creamy and luxurious. Fills the whole mouth and there is something going on every where.
This beer earns a stong B+

Looks like iced tea. Tastes better. Does not pair well with olives .

Scottish Ale from Highlander Brew Company in South River, Ontario. 5.4 alc.
This beer pours a creamy beige head and the beer itself is an almost dark copper colour.
There is no real detectable smell to this ale, but the taste is phenomenal, if you enjoy this style.
Flavour is malt dominant with a slight malty bitter finish.
The beer is medium bodied with substantial carbonation and some of the nicest glass lacing I’ve seen in ages.
Tremendously good product that I highly recommend trying. My only knock is the lack of aroma.

Amber and filtered with no carbonation, topped with 4 fingers of creamy beige head.
Smells of malts, fresh plastic, caramel and very light but fire like hops.
The taste follows the nose, then is followed by a nice malty, scotch like, biscuity flavour that is crisp and fresh.
Light body, very little carbonation.
Drinking by Lake Muskoka, January 13th, 2018. Nice brew. My first one froze and exploded with the weather here, so I got this one to replace it.

Pours brown/red coloured. The smell is a little earthy and a lot like fresh dirt. The taste is a bold nutty malty flavour. This beer seems well balanced and is quite enjoyable. They call it a session ale but at 5.4%, a bit too strong for that

Better than the sum of its parts. Thin head moderate retention and no lacing over a reddish / dark amber body. Aroma mostly malt sweetness, a little too caramel. Sweet with some hop bitterness - missed the toasty notes I look for on a Scottish Ale. Decent body. Served (draught) too cold.

650 ml bottle served cold into a chalice. Best before April 30, 2017. Purchased for $4.95 CDN.
Appearance - a transparent , dark amber beer is poured out. A little frothiness with the 3/4 finger head that was poured, retention is very modest. Small bits of lacing linger and wrap around the glass. Carbonation visually appears low.
Smell - Some sweetened light grainy aromas, but overall not a lot on the nose. Some vague tea like backing in there as well.
Taste - Some assertive hop bitterness which is good but finishes more bitter than it needs to. Nice mixture of grain, earthy tea like flavors some grassiness in between though.
Mouthfeel - lighter than expected body with modest carbonation. Super dry finish.
Overall - A passable if unspectacular Scottish ale. I think a little less bitterness at the conclusion of each sip and a bigger nose would go quite a long way in making this a very good Scottish ale. Worth a try but unlikely to wow.

Poured this through my new Fizzics dispenser www.fizzics.com which gives a wonderful creamy head which fades fairly quickly. Love the balance of malt and hops. Will buy this again. Yes I'm an amber fan.

Pours out a clear reddish brown. Lack of head is disappointing. Medium body brew with flavours of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. There is a good malt sweetness that changes to a bitterness near the finish. The finish is of good length, with heavy roasted malts and bitters. Overall, easy drinking, not overly challenging but a excellent representation of a 90 shilling ale and recommend.
