This Munich style dark lager has a smooth malty flavour with aromas of caramel, dark chocolate, and light roasted coffee.

Look: Pours dark brown with a 1 finger tawny head. The head dissipates quickly leaving a ring of lacing after 5 minutes.
Smell: Rich notes of milk and dark chocolate and leather. Hints of tobacco and a light smoke.
Taste: Starts a little light, but picks up in the middle of the sip. RIch notes of leather, roasted malts, bakers chocolate and damp coffee grounds. Slightly watery on the finish.
Feel: Mouthfilling and creamy in the middle of the sip. There is a lot of play on the back and middle of the tongue. The start and end of the sip are surprisingly basic and light given the mid sip.
Drinking Konig Ludweg Dunkel on a trip to Bavaria was a formative experience to becomeing a "craft beer guy". Sadly few Ontario brewers dip into this style very often. Usually with disappointing results. This beer is a solid B for me, and one that I hope South River continues to make.
