On tap at Bar Volo takeover by Black Oak. Clear winner for me of the new offerings. Saison yeast aroma is strong and a tad funky. Cloudy yellow coloured body with an eighth-inch of retained head. Good drinkability, above average mouthfeel. Spicyness from the berries more significant than the pepper. Other than that, true to the style.

On tap for the Black Oak/Cheshire Valley tap takeover at Volo. Into a tulip.
Poured just lighter than ruby red, moderate head and retention, and falls to a nice thick collar. Nose has a bit of funk, yeast, some banana/phenolic notes. Berries are quite prominent here, and although I've never heard of the sumac berry up until now, I presume this is what's imparting these notes here. Some good herbal notes as well. Taste has lots of the berries and herbal notes as per the nose, powerful spicing here as well. Peppery carbonation, medium high in intensity. Just about a full mouthfeel, good drinkability and a very nice saison overall. A bit of a tart/puckering note could've made this real cool.
