Stopped by the brewery's tasting room this week for a growler of sunlight cream ale and ended up leaving with the ESB Java too. This was a one-time offering from a single keg. Apparently, they gave it a whirl just for fun. The ESB Java was noted to be a combination of their standard Bitter Druid ESB along with a bit of java concentrate...
poured a dark brown to mahogany with just short of a finger sized, slightly off white head into a dogfish head signature glass. the head dissipated in a couple minutes, leaving a thin ring and a fair amount of lacing on the glass.
i've not been a big fan of druid esb - found it a little light bodied. however, the java provides a nice, strong body with an ultra heavy java nose and hints of cocoa (?).
the < 6 abv makes it an easy drink. a successful experiment by my calculation.
