This year’s release of B-Bomb is aged in 12-year-old American Oak bourbon barrels and is a blend of 9, 12, and 24-month old barrel strength Winter Ale. This special edition adds toasted coconut to complement the bourbon, oak, cacao, and leather notes achieved from B-Bomb’s extended barrel aging and barrel blending. Each barrel contributes a different note, and combining each barrel to create a coherent tone is a distinct art and true pleasure. Please do enjoy this unique barrel-aged ale today but know that Coconut Edition B-Bomb will age gracefully for years to come. Don’t Be Afraid To Be Abominable.

22 oz. Bomber
Silver Wax/Capped
Limited 2019 Release
ABV: 13.2%
Poured into a Tree House glass a very nice dark brown/black color, with some pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus tan head, which also leaves a pretty nice medium size island, and some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is very nice, malty, hoppy, with a pretty nice dark fruit complex (grapes, figs, dates, raisins, cherries, plums), with a very nice touch of chocolate/toffee, pretty nice bourbon/oak note, vanilla, with some licorice, slight coconut, roasty. The taste is awesome, malty, hoppy, with a very nice dark fruit complex (grapes, figs, dates, raisins, cherries, plums), with a very nice touch of chocolate/toffee, very nice bourbon/oak, very nice vanilla sweetness, licorice, nice little touch of coconut, pretty nice roastyness. Full Body, ABV is hidden very nicely, a very tasty complex brew, a very nice sipper. Overall, this is one pretty awesome brew. Definitely nice to see this one around, this year. Highly Recommended!

Location: Seattle, WA
Style: American Strong Ale

I went back to Fremont B-Bomb from 2017 for the last beer of the night. I am serving it at 54 degrees in a Madison Brewing tulip glass; then the pour formed a creamy, half-fingered tan head with below-average retention. The beer's color is jet black, with dark mahogany red hues, opaque, and charts at SRM 36. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass and no ring around the liquid. The beer's overall appearance is average for this style, especially given its age and high abv.
Smelling the glass, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, leather, earthy dirt, bourbon, oak, bread, and molasses. Nosing the glass again, I detect light char, caramel, toffee, earthiness, floral esters, a light alcohol note, and pine resin. I am not smelling coconut.
The first sip showcased complex flavors of vanilla, oak, molasses, toasted bread crust, allspice, cinnamon, bourbon, and leather. A few sips later, I taste a subtle caramel sweetness, floral esters, tobacco, light musty basement, pine resin, light char, earthiness, chocolate, coffee, toffee, and a light yeasty note. The coconut is faint.
The mouthfeel is dense and chewy, with a heavy, warm finish. The medium-low carbonation complements the barrel aging, attracting you to keep sipping.
Final Impression: The coconut is not as strong as one would assume. I do not like overly strong coconut beer; coconut has a vegetal quality that is off-putting. However, given how faint that flavor is, it's almost null. The beer is almost nine years old and still aging strongly, another delight from Fremont.

2019 vintage. Although the coconut had definitely faded in the aromas, they were surprisingly still present in the flavors, lending notes of vanilla cupcake and butterscotch. Great for sipping during a blizzard!

Look - Pours a dark black color with a fairly nice head that sticks around for a few minutes.
Smell - Malt and bourbon with a light coconut and cacao scent.
Taste - A rather dry coconut stout, with malt, bourbon, leather, and just barely a hint of coconut,
Feel - Dry, nicely carbonated, fairly easy drinking at 'only' 13%ABV.
Overall - Not a bad stout, but a bit dry for me and lacked much coconut flavor.

Rated 3/3/21. A bottle I purchased from Total Wine & More. Freemont brews some really awesome beers/barleywines and this is a great one. I'm not sure what edition/year this one was, but it was well balanced, and all the notes of the bourbon barrel make it a great beer. 65 IBUs Rated 8-30-2023

2017 vintage
I know this one is a bit old, and I was honestly surprised to see this older vintage on Tavour, but given how highly regarded this one is I just couldn’t pass it up. I’m sure the coconut is past its prime but it’ll probably still be good. Let’s dig in
Pours a very dark brown with a finger of light tan head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is quite sweet, but there’s a surprising amount of coconut left and still rather balanced. I’m picking up on aromas of sweet bourbon, molasses, brown sugar, raisin, raw coconut, chocolate fudge, vanilla bean, burnt caramel, and light tobacco
It doesn’t hold up quite as well in taste, but I can’t really say I have any complaints. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting chocolate fudge, sweet bourbon, toasted oak, molasses, vanilla, burnt caramel, brown sugar, black cherry, and light coconut. The swallow brings notes of cocoa powder, vanilla bean, toasted coconut, molasses, brown sugar, raisin, burnt caramel, and earthy bourbon
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes mostly dry with a very slight boozy heat
This held up better than I expected actually. Not that I’ve ever had a fresh one but still

2017 vintage. Still plenty of coconut flavor. Pours with a brown head and mild lacing. Scents of bourbon, coconut, cocoa, and caramel, all of which carry over to the taste. Hints of dark fruit on the under current. Medium bodied, easy sipper, subtle booze presence. Quite enjoyable.
