Gorgeous pour. Mostly gentle yields a good two fingers of gently rising foam. Medium brown head that takes its time to settle down leaving tufts and drifts and sticky lacing along the glass. Body is not-quite-black, dark dark dark, but with a ruddy/muddy garnet/brown hue to the edges, especially held up to the light.
Nose is inviting, but doesn't jump out. Just good classic dark grains and an underlayer of milky cocoa. Mostly roasty grains, though. Enjoyable and solidly stouty, but nothing really stands out. Solid if unspectacular.
Similar impression as the aroma: solidly enjoyable, classic stout flavours, but doesn't really jump out/stand out. Just solidly well executed. Dark roasty grains, with a bit of char and dark roast black coffee. Chocolate is subdued and mostly comes across as kind of a rich ribbon through the back third: somewhat fudgy/oily and more the bittersweet side of chocolate than the sweet that the fudge description above would imply. This is more dark roast coffee and roasty grains than it is the chocolate.
Carbonation is actually a little sharper than I'd expect and this helps lend an almost spicy character to the beer. Thinner/oilier mouthfeel.
Overall this is another enjoyable brew from a brewery for whom I have the utmost respect. It's not going to blow anyone away or jump out of the glass at you, but not everything needs to be massively bold and colourful. There's a good place for a solid, well executed workhorse, and this is a solid, well executed stout. I did want a little bit more chocolate given that it's billed as a chocolate stout, but if you take away that label, I am happy with the underlying beer overall, it's just that the appellation led me to expect more of the chocolate presence.

16oz can split between a pair of WABL samplers. Bought it at the brewery yesterday. Dated 12/08/20.
Pours black with a brown head of substantial size, fades slowly and leaves a pretty thick layer capping the beer. Medium carbonation. Smell is coffee and roast grains.
Taste is similar -- coffee and roast grains. If pressed, I could characterize it as very dark chocolate, I do actually get a little bit of an acidic characteristic that I associate with very dark chocolate.
Mouthfeel is light, smooth, slightly creamy. Overall, nice beer.
