Collaboration with El Segundo Brewing Company
El Fremonto was brought to life in collaboration with El Segundo Brewing. We have a great amount of respect and admiration for El Segundo Brewing and their talent for creating amazingly fresh, high-quality, hoppy beers. We share an immense amount of love for hops and hoppy beers! We specifically chose Amarillo, Simcoe, Columbus, Strata, Simcoe Cryo hops that provide an outstanding balance of bitterness. El Fremonto West Coast IPA has hints of grapefruit, orange, pine, and grassy aromas, with a tropical lingering taste. El Fremonto is the result of two independent West Coast IPA breweries coming together to bring you hoppy liquid magic.
Down & Dirty: 2-Row Pale, Vienna, and Pilsner malts with Amarillo, Simcoe, Columbus, Strata, and Simcoe Cryo hops.
70 IBU

Poured from a 32 ounce crowler into a tulip glass.
Look- Pale amber, very slightly hazy, visible tiny particulate, average head retention, above average lacing.
Smell- Pine resin, grapefruit, clementine, grassy.
Taste- Pine resin, clementine, grapefruit, pineapple.
Feel- Moderate bitterness, between thin and medium body, average carbonation, prickly, mildly mouth warming, clean mouth warming finish, low astringency.
Overall- Extremely nice example of a West Coast IPA. This one should go into the flagship lineup as it is on par with Pliny.

The pour from the 16 oz. can looks West Coast – clear, golden, shimmering waves of grain. One hurdle cleared. Nose is exceedingly mild with light grain & pine.
El Fremonte brings the malts. Plenty of heavy body cut with crushed aspirin that doesn’t do it any favors, mild citrus & dry, biting bitterness, with a touch of soup, bread, & crackers on the finish. The strength is that it’s light & easy to drink.
Does not live up to my bright-eyed expectation. Decent enough.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Clear golden pour, lasting one finger foamy white head. Light fruity, hoppy aroma. Hops are front and center in the taste, grassy, bitter, meadow. A bit dry at the finish.

S-imperceptable
T-Nice grapfruit, minor dank bitterness, balanced. Below avg bitter for style
M-Medium (-) smooth clean dry finish. Below avg carbonation
O-Not sure of the hodge-podge hop bill, but it works

16 oz. Can
PKGD: 01/24/22
Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice clean/clear dark yellow/orange color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, pineapple, guava, mango, grapefruit), pretty nice pinyness. The taste is pretty nice hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, pineapple, guava, mango, grapefruit) , nice little sweetness, pretty nice pineyness. Medium body, ABV hidden very nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty beer.

Smooth and clean, West Coast for sure but with minimal bitterness, though there is some nice piney dankness coming through. Moderate tropical fruit and some hints of grapefruit, fresh cut grass, other citrus. Good stuff.

i had higher hopes for this one, its nice beer, but it came across a little samey to me, not as bright on the dry hopping nor as distinct on the hops overall as anticipated. very pale, quite clear, and frothy white headed from the tap, looks excellent. the nose is appealing too, just more mild than i thought it would be, almost in the pale ale range where hop bitterness seems as prominent as anything else from them, generic citrus with a light grapefruit lean, a touch of middle sweetness, and a light dankness but nothing intense. the flavor is similar, orange and grapefruit both, a little green grassiness later on, and more and more bitterness as it warms. i love the light body but the fact that it still has some grain balance in the flavor, and i like it embracing the bitter aspects of the hops. i was hoping for something a little more distinctive, especially from the cryo simcoe in here, but its all pretty restrained to me. mostly clean on the ferment, not invisible but close, and it finishes drier than it is earlier on, nice carbonation and lightness overall, pretty highly drinkable, but i was hoping for a more memorable hop experience here, well done as this is. all the new hoppy stuff from fremont lately makes me happy though!

Clear gold with three fingers of off white head. Swathes of lace appear as the levels drop.
Smell is pungent pine fruit bready malt.
Taste is hop forward with fruit pine leather and bready malts.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with low carbonation. The finish is mildly dry and bitter.
Overall a tasty W.C. IPA. Packaged on 01/24/22.

16oz can (dated 1/24/22) poured into 14oz teku. poured a lightly hazy honey-gold color with well over an inch of white head that had good retention and moderate lacing.
The aroma had a mild grain base with some citrus, weed and cat hop attributes on top.
Fairly similar on the tongue, with just a touch of hop bitterness as well.
The body was medium, maybe a touch more than medium, smooth, and had a medium finish. Drinkability was goo, no problems finishing the can. overall, a solid, but real notable IPA. Worth trying if you see it.

Pop the top and pour...enjoy the floral nose with notes across the board of pine, stone fruit in the background. Clear and clean, no haze here. Hits the WCIPA right dead-center. Plenty of hops without any harshness or lingering burn. Modest 7% ABV. Refreshing and satisfying. Take your time savoring this one. Not many as good as this one come down the pike very often.

Can from Uptown Market.
A clear orange with a dense off-white head with excellent retention and lacing. The nose is great. Bitter, pungent, fruity with orange, grapefruit, pine and a lovely hop oil character. Minimal malt. The palate opens bitter and pungent, oily and lovely, with pine, grapefruit, bitter orange peel, clean as a whistle, mild malt. Bitter, fruity, oily, clean. Drying on the finish, oily and resiny.

Beautiful West Coast beer between two Pacific breweries as I watch a California showdown between the Rams and 49ers. The Rams look like complete doggy doo doo, but thankfully this beer is not a pooper. I don’t exactly know what goes on up in Washington, but I’d trust them like your crazy cousin did when he hit a Tijuana glory hole.
Adios.
