Poured from a growler into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a medium golden amber with a one finger white head that dissipates to a thin film with light lacing. Aroma of lightly grainy malt, clove, saison yeast, hints of lemon and faint light stone fruit. Flavor follows with grainy malt, saison style yeast, dry caramel, clove, yuzu fruit and zest, vague light stone fruit and light banana. Lingering yuzu rind and clove finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A really full flavored domestic tripel. Flavor depth is very appealing and the yeast and spice character is spot-on for this Belgian style. It's so authentic I'm curious now about the yeast used, but nothing on the website. I stopped by Fremont today to get their new blended strong ale and this was on the draft list. Available only in a 32oz. Crowler, I almost didn't get it because those big cans of high octane ales are awkward, but really glad I did. This is excellent. Hope they make this a regular brew.

32oz crowler served in a curvy Fremont glass. Crowler was filled two days ago.

Pours crystal clear dark golden color with a fairly big head that settles into a thin skin and a lumpy ring pretty quickly, not a lot of active carbonation. Smell is belgian yeast, sweet vaguely banana fruit, a little clove/herbal note, mostly it smells like I expect tripels to smell.

Taste is also vaguely banana with a little clove/herbal, has a substantial earthy / grassy bitterness, nicely balanced with the fruity sweetness. Yeast / bread dough is also a pretty strong note. A lot going on.

Mouthfeel is not very thick, but surprisingly a little bit chewy. Overall, I haven't had too many belgian style beers from Fremont, but I shouldn't be too surprised that they did this one so well.
