Pours deep dark coffee stout with light khaki head. Creamy with a bite and a punch. Good American Imperial stout.

16oz can. Surprisingly soft, velvety. Chocolate and hazelnut, ghost of black pepper. Really nice.

L: Creamy looking head, nice lacing.
S: Chocolate cake, hazelnut, black pepper, caramel, some woody, roasty notes.
T: Hazelnut and caramel come in sweet, then bitter coco and a few leather notes, then sweeter chocolate and black pepper spice through the finish, along with caramel and a touch of toffee.
F: Creamy smooth, not hot at all.
O: Very nice complexity flavor wise. The black pepper is present just enough to compliment the coco flavors. Not too sweet, which is often a plus these days. I think that’s what I like the most— generally this is on the bitter side of stouts, but still brings plenty of nutty and chocolate flavors.

On draft at Whistle Stop. One of the best stouts I've ever had! Great initial taste and nose!

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Near black pour, skin of beige head, rings of lacing. Aroma is chocolate, hazelnut with the pepper sneaking in at the end. Quite a Nutella vibe. Taste is roasty, chocolate, lighter on the hazelnuts, and the pepper is more noticeable as a slight spicy vibe on the palate. Dries out towards the finish.

One of the nicer non BA stouts I've had in a long time, especially since this style is becoming locally extirpated in everything but the most designated bottleshops. Thank you Fremont for a daily drinkable normal gravity (albeit heavy) stout! Gets more fragrant and tasty as it warms in a glass. Beautiful jet black, nice foamy espresso crema head, very pleasant and roasted nutty smell, less nutty taste, but present. I was hoping for a bit stronger pepper, which I could only taste (I think?) if I let it run down the sides of my tongue into the corners of my mouth. Overall, extremely smooth, balanced but boozy, and pleasant to drink.

16oz can newly-arrived to the Idaho market; pours very dark black, opaque with a dark mocha head; nose and palate dominated with hazelnut but not overly sweet or cloying...roasty backbone is present with impressions of espresso and dark chocolate, earthy charred lumber...smooth with a zippy quality, a touch of present bitterness. Wish I could find the black pepper but there is a present smoky quality underlying the roasted malt profile. Good stuff!
