Amba Laga – Brewery Only Release - from Fremont. 16 fl oz can from @snaotheus in NBW BIF 17. Reviewed 17/05/23 (Review 3104). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “PKGD 03/14/23”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 41.5 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 49.6 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.25
First pour – Deep Gold (SRM 6), clear.
Body – Medium Amber (SRM 12), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, same.
Head: Large (Maximum 4.5 cm, aggressive center pour), cornsilk, high density, quickly diminishing, reducing to a 0.4 – 0.9 cm crown with a choppy upper edge and constantly renewed by carbonation, and a partial cap with scummy islands.
Lacing – Good. Head remains stuck to the glass, leaving primarily thin columns connecting it to the scant remaining head.
Aroma – 4 – Toasted malt, trace of hops, no yeast. No ethanol (5 % ABV as marked on the label).
Flavor – 4 – Slightly bitter toasted malt. No yeast. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; watery approaching creamy; soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Less sweet than most of the amber/red lagers I’ve consumed. Toasted malt is obvious, balanced by the hop bitterness.

Sampling a 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug at cellar temp. Date stamp is packaged on 3/14/2023.
The beer pours a rich caramel color with soft fluffy beige head of 1 cm. This foam fades to a thin edge layer soon after the pour.
Aroma is some caramel and toasted bread, with a bit of a floral hop note. Overall the nose is kinda mild.
First sip reveals a medium body with fine gentle carbonation. Texture is smooth and this beer drinks pretty easy on the physical traits.
Flavor is similar to the nose with caramel and again toasted dark bread. Hops give some balance with a bit of floral or grassy notes. Finish has a dryness to it and some lingering bite. A well balanced flavor profile.
This is a tasty balanced beer that works well as an amber lager. Not a common style these days, but glad to have received this one and enjoyed emptying the can.

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Can is dated 03/14/23. Bought it at the brewery.
Pours a fairly clear slightly dark amber with a moderately large head, looks pretty well-carbonated, head sticks around as a thick layer that clings almost a finger up the side of the glass. Smell is fairly muted, I get a tiny bit of toffee and nuts, moderate sweetness, a vague toastiness. Smells nice, but muted.
Taste is not so muted. There's a light roast coffee bitterness, nut flavor is a lot stronger, sweetness and toffee is muted, and hops are certainly noticeable -- earthy bitterness from the hops.
Mouthfeel is light and clean. Overall, very enjoyable, I like it.

Look is definition of amber; beautifully vibrant and clear; brown tinged and airy head, collapses relatively fast but it does leave a nice layer of froth that sticks around.
Pleasant nose…rich malt with a noticeable toasted quality, grainy, and an aromatic gentle hoppiness.
Taste is rich caramel malt like the nose; far from syrupy or heavy; toasted grain, lightly hoppy on the finish.
Super smooth beer, the carbonation is lively but it comes off very smooth; lingering little bit of hop bitterness.
A very tasty little lager.
