500ml bottle picked up in Kyiv, Ukraine. Is a deep brown to nearly black with a tan head Aroma has notes of dark malt, coffee, chocolate, and a hint of licorice. Taste is rich malt character with roasted notes, often with some sweetness balancing the bitterness. Medium to full-bodied with decent carbonation. Nice change from the standard German ones.

Poured into lager glass.
Pours clear brown with nice creamy beige head, good retention.
Smell is worse - dusty, metallic, some caramel, poor indeed.
Taste - kvass-like, sweet, caramel and toasted malts, papery.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, nothing interesting.

On tap at Kamiskas Gyvas Alus in Vilnius. From notes.
A - Deep red/amber colour with a half finger khaki head. A little hazy. No visible carbonatgion. No head retention or lacing.
S - Nice aroma for sure. Dark malt and earth. Slightly metallic and a nice hop presence.
T - Sweet malt to finish after a nice grassy hnop and a chocolate note. Perhaps a little too sweet.
M - Tingly light carbonation and a medium body with a little chew.
O/D - Just a tad bit sweet but nothing to make it a bad beer. Well put together and worth a try. Nice to see well crafted beers coming out of this area. People seem to be quite proud of good beer here made in very small batches. They're on their way.

500 ml bottle from Lithuania
Pours clear amber with many small carbonation bubbles, dense tan head that slowly fades to patchy layer, downsliding lacing. Aroma is sweetish roasted.
Taste is clean bittery roasted, hints of citrus, bits of alcohol can be felt towards the end of the glass, some sweet residues remain on the lips. Mouthfeel is moderate with slightly prickly carbonation, pleasant alcohol warming sensation slowly sets in.
Overall, not bad, but at the end it started to feel too sweet.
