Brown color where light shines through the edge. Small head which fades completely and leaves no lace.
Semisweet and nutty smell.
Soft body with ample carbonation, this is a traditional Dunkel. Not too sweet. Light colored brown bread flavor.

For a malt-head like me, this is a fine beer and consistent to style.
Dunkels Look good if they just have a ruby tone, as this one does. (A fluffy head on top of a dunkel looks funny.)
Vilkmerges Dark Smells like a dunkel, mostly malt; a blend of some roasted dark and some born dark.
And this Tastes largely the same; but, just enough hops to balance the malts so this Dark is not sweet. Finishes soft with just enough bubbles to cleanse the palate for some more sweet malt.
This is my first from Vilkmerges and am impressed that they came so close to the Bavarian masters I've had in this style.
As my first, I went on their website (which had no English button, so I could not read it.) But, this simple site presents their beers competently and also illustrates the brewing process. Simple, direct, nothing fancy. Just like this Dark.

0,41l bottle. ABV 5,8, wort extract 15,4.
Pours fizzy reddiush brown beer with only a ring of tan froth on a top. Aroma of caramel and dark fruits, rather sweet. Taste of caramel, toffee, somewhat roasted. Body is full, warming alcohol, but still drinkable. Despite its disappointing appearance, the beer is not so bad. 0,41l - what a fucking capacity!

330 ml from Maxima supermarket in Lithuania
Pours very dark amber with slightly fizzy brownish head that soon dissipates, downsliding lacing. Smell is sugary lightly roasted malt, but sweetness clearly dominates.
Taste is slightly different - coke with bits of roasted malt, but the flavour disappears in seconds. At least it is not cloying and does not leave any residues, one of the cleanest aftertastes I have experienced. Mouthfeel is light, prickly carbonation and pleasant and smooth alcohol warming.
Overall, the beer is rather strange, although the aroma was rather ok, the flavour is slightly too sweet and messed up. I did not enjoy it too much.
