Our blackberry honey ale, made with over 600 lbs of fresh fruit and just the right amount of honey, has a beautiful deep ruby red color and blackberry flavor and aroma.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass at the brewpub. The appearance was a hazy orange color with some red highlights here and there around the glass. Bar pour yielded no head. The smell started off with a sweet red raspberry and then a light tart raspberry came in to balance and then after that a light sugary sweetness came in. The taste was mainly sweet through the raspberries but after a while the sugary flavor came back. On the palate, this one had a tart and sweet raspberry aftertaste that seemed pretty authentic and I would say that this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. The carbonation was decent for the style and for me. Overall, decent raspberry ale I believe I could take to the dome again.

Sampled at the Brewpub
This beer is a lightly hazy, deep amber color with ruby highlights when held up to the light. The head is simply a wispy pale tan head that is really just a ring around the edges. The aroma is sweet and fruity with perhaps a hint of honey aromatics to it, and a fruitiness that is definite, but somewhat non-descript.

The taste is quite sweet; it is almost sticky sweet, but not quite. Honey is definitely evident; there is that sort of astringent note, mixed with a floral type thing that I associate with honey. The fruitiness is quite pronounced, though I can't quite put my finger on specifics; it is definitely not raspberry dominated. I am actually finding this a lot more easy drinking and enjoyable than I was expecting. Yes it is a simplistic, sweet fruit beer, but it is quite drinkable and even quaffable.

I didn't know what to expect from this beer. I was worried that it'd taste like a light lager with some fruit juice added. You know, something like a wine cooler.

I was very wrong. Whew!

The color reminded me of a dark cranberry juice; it was very, very red. It almost didn't look like a beer. The head was thin and was slightly pink I think!

The smell was of a strong berry liquor. I have no idea what it's called, but that's all I could think of. Sweet. Seems perfect with dessert, maybe vanilla ice cream, or a big fat slice of pie.

Nice, nice taste. Good combination of sweet and sour. Neither are overpowering. Well balanced. There are definitely berries in here. Fresh seeming, as opposed to just an extract or something.

The honey definitely influences the mouthfeel, which is slightly syrupy. Maybe more than slightly, or at least enough to somewhat detract from its drinkability.

I could see this being a part of a lambic. It leans that direction, but with less carbonation and bite.

If you don't like fruit beer, do not shy away from this. You may be surprised.
