On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub.

Gotta love the name. Poured a medium brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, lactose, and some coffee. Tastes of chocolate, vanilla, some roast, lactose and coffee. The milk chocolate was definitely there.

I seek out these chocolate stouts, and this one was no exception, driving through sleet and bypassing sidelined cars to get to this brewpub. A chocolate and lactose aroma, a brown milkshake in appearance with lace. Bold carbonation and bittersweet chocolate.

Pours an oily opaque black with a receding brown head, leaves moderate lacing. Upon smelling this beer I was wondering, "where’s the chocolate?" Nose was mostly subtle mocha coffee and roasted malts. Flavor reveals some chocolate and its the dark bitter kind, hops are there but they are watered down and underbalanced with a stronger chocolate flavor. Medium/heavy mouthfeel and finishes with a nice hoppy bitterness. Not bad.

Black with a thin, light brown head. Sweet roasted malt and milk chocolate dominate the aroma, but there's a bit of acidity present as well. Milky sweet and chocolatey, roasted malt and coffee character is balanced to the forefront. Dry, roasted finish with a medium/full body, low carbonation and a creamy texture. Overall, a good stout.

Probably my favorite offering from Dragonmead. Poured out to a dark pitch-black color with a 1/8 inch cream colored head. Aroma of chocolate. And lots of it. Some hops were detected, as was a smokey character, but chocolate dominated. Same with the taste. Flavors of cocoa, coffee, earth and sweet herbs meshed well and balanced each other out nicely. Mouthfeel was thick and smooth, like almost like a good milkshake. Good drinkability, this one sat rather well unlike some very heavy porters. Highly Recommended.

from the tap had this a couple off months ago. poured black with a brown head that didn’t last very long some lacing. aroma chocolate the bitter sweet kind, malts, and some coffee. flavor the blend of the malts and choloate were nice the coffee flavor didn’t add anything to it though tasted like cheap coffee other than that not to bad of a beer

Pours a deep black in color with a dark tan head that had a good bit of retention. Nose is a bit weak, wafts of dry cocoa and roast mostly, a bit on the thin side to be honest. Taste was quite good, lots of lactose though, really cuts through. Dry cocoa and roast were the main elements. Mouthfeel was much thinner than I was expecting, not bad however.
This one is quite sweet and is a solid offering, my favorite stout from Dragonmead so far.

Slàinte!

Served as a very large sample at the Dragonmead Brewery. The color was a very dark brown with a nice, thick head. The smell was mostly sweet. The taste mixed a nice lactic bitterness with a very good sweet chocolatey nature living up to the name. Mouthfeel was creamy. As for drinkability, would be a nice one to have a few of.

This one shall forever be known as the Davo stout ;) (most people will easily understand why!). A very interesting and rich beer that mixes a very strong chocolate with lactose (something I haven't much seen before), and along with the tour definitely re-interested me in what Dragonmead is doing, and this is certainly an enjoyable beer I'd have again
