Served from the plastic bottle in an Ohio State shaker pint glass.
I'm rocking the OSU glass and fillin' it with a new kvass, so I must be catsitting. The Original Kvass Kick returns, heading over to Lithuanis, who today gives us a kvass (or gira, if you're a local) apparently sporting a flavor reminiscent of Lviv in Ukraine. Sure. It pours a mostly clear midnight auburn topped by a half-finger or so of short-lived tan foam. The nose is heavy with rye crusts and maple syrup, with some fennel and molasses creeping up the back. The taste brings in more of the same, the syrup-laden bread quality leading the way, though a small contingent of sourdough and vague fruits sneak quietly from behind and linger a bit in the aftertaste. The body is a light medium with a light moderate carbonation and a slick feel. Overall, a decent enough kvass, nothing to write home about, and I'm not sure about the Lviv reference, but maybe.
