Very dark brown with a hint of red. A modest sized tan head that lasted longer than expected. Aroma: A caramel, vanilla, malt & rye. Flavors: Pleasantry sweet with caramel, ripe figs & prunes, rye, malted grain, vanilla, toffee & a touch of spice. Low carbonation, thick & velvety smooth.

Appearance: Pours coffee colored with a small khaki head that quickly fades to a ringlet; speckles of lacing
Smell: The Rye barrel aromatics envelop with molasses, raisin and fig underneath
Taste: As in the aroma, the Rye barrel dominates with raisin and fig in the foreground; after the swallow, caramel and a touch of molasses add sweetness to the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: I like Rye so this is enjoyable but I am afraid I need more from the barleywine to really appreciate the flavors here
