The beer pours a light amber with a thin halo of a white head. Although the appearance doesn't really indicate it's a blueberry wheat, the nose is a distinct ripe blueberry. Actually, it's a little overpowering at first, but mellow out more as it warms. The taste isn't gross at all with a subtle blueberry undertone complimenting a distinctly wheat body. There isn't the expected overly sweet blueberry taste; it's quite well balanced and retains its wheat beer characteristics well. This unexpected balance makes for a great mouthfeel and there is nothing artificial tasting about it.
Overall this is a tasty blueberry ale that's pretty drinkable except for an unexpected bitterness that accumulates disproportionately at the end of the 6 oz sample.
