German-style refillable growler filled at Maplewood on 2/29/04, enjoyed on 3/1/04.

First imperial pint glass pours with a nice tall (>1") head, which is very fluffy and airy, similar to what you see on cask-conditioned ale presentations. Heavy lace everywhere. Darkish amber in color, like most ESBs, and with not assertive aroma of light malt and hops. Taste is of bitterness, but not overpowering, and finishes with a hit of malt that smooths the ride. Almost a bit thin in the flavor, but that makes the drinkability even that much more so. Worth the try if you're on location at Maplewood, but that's your only shot, as they do not bottle at this time.
