tasty brew here, simple in a good way, basic on the grain side, pretty light in body although slightly raw in overall refinement to me, it lets the berries shine, which has to be the point of this, a summer fruit ale, easy drinking, basic, appealing. the color is muted purple, a little cloudiness to it overall, some froth from the tap but it settles quick, light backlit shine, but it could be a little more tidy. the nose is good, fruity and jammy, generic grape candy, blackberry, and light black currant too, some sweetness, some light tang, but this is pretty mellow. not a lot from the grain or hops, but there is enough of that for it to be beer and not juice, and the balance is there too. the flavor is a little bit of tang up front, a little sweetness late, a slightly bready malt middle, and a general simplicity that makes it drinkable and appealing, maybe a little less than neutral on the ferment, but its close, at least while its cold. slight perfume character to the fruit but its not out of place, subtle summer floral character, wine grapes, and a slightly toasted note. this does what is sets out to do pretty well i think, and while the fruit profile is on the generic side, it tastes pretty good and i think most patrons through these locations will enjoy this in high summer. not my favorite in their lineup, but a fun crowd pleaser for warm weather.

draught
Very light, white head. Nearly clear, dark pink look. Bright and subtle, berry and rhubarb aroma. Quite light, watery, very lightly toasted malt, with barely a touch of pomegranate juice, makes up the taste.

Slightly hazy with a thin, bubbly head. Solid retention and streak lacing. Reddish in color, the aroma is light berries and malt. The flavor is boysenberry all the way, but not overdone. Very light, crisp and refreshing. A nice change in my beer drinking experience. This beer would be great for a summer night or even dessert.

I purchased a keg of this for a summer BBQ celebrating a graduation. Special thanks to Robert the brewer at the Hillsdale Mcmenamins! Great service and great beer!
A: Pinkish redish haze. Not quite purple but close. White head with low retention. Unfiltered; can't see through even the shallowest amount of beer.
S: Raspberry, strawberry and blackberry. Sweet with wheat notes.
T: Slightly sweet with raspberry. Beer finishes with tangy sour blackberry and black cherry notes with lemon pith and a mild coriander note. Trace amounts of green fresh grass at the end.
M: Finishes very clean begging another sip. Extremely drinkable when ice cold. Could stand to be slightly thinner but and easy session beer.
O: Extremely drinkable. Nice and mellow. Great summer beer. This was a hit with mostly everyone at the BBQ; even the beer snobs were coming around to it.

I had this on-tap in a pint glass at the McMenamins in Mill Creek, WA.
Appearance: medium amber-orange hue with quite a bit of haze. Head is a finger of quite creamy white foam. I like it.
Smell: tart and lightly fruity aroma. Not bad, but boysenberry is not readily identifiable here.
Taste: moderately tart berry flavor with a lightly sweet and tart finish. There's some earthy aftertaste which isn't great, but overall not bad.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and a satisfying creaminess. I quite like it.
Overall: not perfect, but very refreshing and drinkable and with a nice texture. If in the mood for a fruit beer, I'd easily have this again.
