12oz can served cold into a pint glass. Thanks to the Zeds for enjoying this on Mothe's Day. Review from notes.

Appearance - Clear amber colored brew, not much head or retention. Maybe a three quarter finger head is poured which burns away quickly.

Smell - Some graininess initially with a lot of neutral aromas, there's not really a whole lot going on here.

Taste - Grainy flavors, mild bitterness. Not a lot of intensity of depth here. Passable amber and no off flavors.

Mouthfeel -Medium-bodied, good carbonation.

Overall - Pretty non-descript, but a drinkable amber with nothing off-putting.

Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Clear 14.75-oz. porter/stout tulip
From: Grocery Outlet in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $5.99 for a variety 12-pack
Purchased: Nov. 9, 2017
Consumed: Nov. 9, 2017
Reviewed as: American Amber / Red Ale
Misc.: No canned on date; Can read 4.5 pct. ABV

First time I’d ever seen this brewery in stores. The term brewery is used loosely as it is World Brews out of Novato, Calif., even though the can says Rochester, N.Y. (I know there is some relation there). Anyway, saw the Cat’s Away IPA for $2.99 for a 6-pack, then saw this variety 12-pack (also a pale ale, amber and witbier) for just $5.99. Had to pounce on it even though I knew each would probably be average. After the After Party Pale Ale (2.74), was onto this one called Red Flag Amber.

Poured an amber-to-medium amber clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very good spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled plum, caramel, honey, Cheerios, citrus zest, bready malts, toasty grain, hints of purple grape lightly toasted toffee and hints of menthol. Almost like an ESB, which I understand can be close. (Smell - 3.25)

Taste followed the nose. Honey Nut Cheerios, caramel, plum, toasty grain and light brown sugar. Not a lot going on, but really that’s OK here. (Taste - 3.25)

Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt clean finish. (Feel - 3.50)

This was much better than I thought it would be for the style. Nothing too special, but entirely drinkable and just 50 cents per can. (Overall - 3.25)

From a can bought as a “Trouble Brewing” variety pack at Wal-Mart. Into a pint glass, pale amber/reddish gold color with small amount of precipitating carbonation fueling a thin white head that has good sticking power; slight lacing around edges. Nose of bready malt and not much else. In the mouth, caramel-buttery-bready flavor, pleasantly understated. Watery, slightly thin mouth feel. Overall, nothing spectacular, but fairly solid amber ale. Not as flavorful as some of the other “Trouble Brewing” selections in the variety pack. Would try again.

12 oz. can - part of variety pack:

Pours bright copper with a thin fizzy head. A little lacing sticks.

The smell is of steely caramel with a light earthy tone. Mild.

The taste is of sweet caramel with some melon. The body is on the thin side. Abrupt finish with some fizz.

It's okay to decent. A mild, basic, malt-leaning amber ale with just enough balance to keep it from being too sweet.

It's very inexpensive. Picked it up at Walmart.

Not a bad basic cheap amber ale.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and good lacing. Smells of spicy hops, adjunct, pale malt, grass, and a hint of earthy malt. Fits the style of an American Amber / Red Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pale malt, adjunct, hint of spicy hops, slight ,and caramel malt. Overall, good appearance, decent feel, but body, blend, and aroma are dominated by adjunct.

Of all these WallyWorld "craft" brews, this is the best, but that's not saying much. Taste like a huge brewer decided to make a craft beer. Lacks overall in every way. Still, better than bud, mill, coor's! Good for the price if you can't spend $9.99/ 6 pack.
12 pack of mixed was $12. And change.

Tasted from a 12 oz can that was part of a Trouble Brewing mixed 12-pack.

Bright copper to light amber color is exceptionally clear. Head is off-white and virtually non-existent. Bready malt with some darkfruit and just a tiny hint of roasted grain in the aromas, with no hops or yeast character. Flavor are vaguely grainy with only a bit of graham cracker sweetness that seems to come from caramel malt. No hops or other flavors. Medium body; moderate to light carbonation; light hops bitterness.

Overall a drinkable but forgettable amber ale.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a very small, tan head. It smelled of toasted caramel and sweet maltiness. Very malty and sweet. Not much bitterness.
