Red ale is my favorite style of brew. This one left me wishing for something better. It was either poorly carbonated or maybe contaminated somehow. It felt flat and mildly oily. I felt it was really missing the refreshing crispness, very mild hops and slightly malty flavor that I expect in a red ale.

Small off white head with a thin lacing above a clear brownish caramel colored beer.

Very light aroma of roasted to almost burnt dark malts that almost border on molasses.

Roasted dark caramel malt taste with the molasses barely coming through.

A dryish aftertaste with a caramel malt taste on this medium bodied beer.

A decent red that's worth a try, although I don't think it will win any awards.

Served in a taster glass

From notes - found a random page of notes in a book. Enjoyed while visiting the brew pub in July 2011.

A: Dark tan/light brown. Half (off-white) fingernail head.

S: Medium toasted malt with caramel, oak, and toffee. Hint of raisins and cherries.

T: Sweet toffee up-front with toasted malt and oak coming thru middle to back. Soft bitterness balances this beer nicely and makes it a standard red ale.

M: Medium bodied with low carbonation.

O: Classic American Red Ale here - nothing too crazy about it. Good, but not great and quite basic.
