25.3 ounce bottle in a snifter. Bottled in 2018, picked up recently at the Kingston, NC location.

Dark brown color with a mocha tan cap, near 2F. Good retention and lacing.

Cocoa nibs drive the aroma. Some whiskey soaked oak also.

Whiskey tinted dark chocolate flavor with a touch of vanilla in the background.

Medium bodied porter. Whiskey rough, chocolate smooth.

The aging likely led to its smoothness. The whiskey didn’t seem to have faded and the chocolate held up. Overall a good Imperial porter.

Pours a very effervescent ebony with 2 fingers of mocha colored head. Zero head retention & lacing

S: Dark fruit, dark chocolate once warm & then fades

T: Dark fruit & then dark chocolate, plus dryness & leafy hops up front. A touch of oakyness & peat as this warms along with figs & leafy hops, a touch of bitter chocolate on the edges, was hoping for more sweet. Finishes with figs, oaky dryness, & a hint of dark chocolate

MF: Medium body, delicate carbonation

Solid offering, was hoping for way better given the price of this ( $ 18.40 for 25 oz ), ABV is well disguised

750 mL corked bottle straight from Mother Earth. Very dark brown color, and nice aromas of sweet chocolate and then some barrel aging booze in there. A touch on the thin side, which I often find with porters, but overall a very good beer.

Mother Earth Windowpane Series: Chocolate

Look: Pours super-dark brown but not quite opaque black with a healthy, foamy head thick legs, and nice lacing. Retention is excellent. It's a great-looking porter. 4.25

Smell: Chocolate, whiskey, a nutty note almost like peanut butter, and something reminiscent of sweet, candied fruit. I wish the notes came through stronger and clearer. 3.75

Taste: A bit of sweet chocolate and a bit of whisky. It's a good taste and a good combination, but the mildness of flavor leaves me wanting more. 3.75

Mouthfeel: Fairly typical mouthfeel of a porter. It has a smooth, slick feel with only some light carbonation but comes across a bit thin. 4.0

Overall: Quite an enjoyable dessert porter, but I wish they would turn up the intensity a bit on the smell and the flavor. It's quite nice but a bit too subtle. Also, not related to the beer itself, but this was one of the most annoying cage-and-cork bottles I've ever opened. The cork was very difficult to remove, and the top of the cork broke off halfway out, so I had to use a wine corkscrew remove the rest of it before I could access the beer. 3.75

Poured into an Ommegang stemmed glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/2 inch dark tan head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves a solid ring behind.

S- Sweet raspberry/chocolate aroma with mild barrel character.

T- Fruity and a bit acidic with not much chocolate to speak of. Barrel character is once again mild and the main flavor I'm getting off this is pineapple. Good, but not what I was expecting. Chocolate comes through more as it warms

M- Silky smooth with medium carbonation and a fullish body.

O- Definitely not one of the better chocolate BA stouts I've had. Drinkable and flavorful enough but I wouldn't recommend seeking it out.
