Made on Honor for five generations, The Famous Narragansett Lager has been one of the greats since 1890. Pre-Prohibition era drinkers toasted 'Gansett, Dr. Suess illustrated 'Gansett, the Sox scored with 'Gansett, and Captain Quint crushed 'Gansett. Today, the highest rated, heritage American lager (according to Beer Advocate) is brewed to be clean, crisp, refreshing and perfectly balanced. "Hi Neighbor! Have a 'Gansett!"

Poured out of a 16 oz. can into one of my pokal glasses, this beer pours a clear, medium golden color with lots of streams of little bubbles fairly rapidly and continually rising to the beer's surface. Has a fluffy looking white head that's initially well over an inch thick when first poured. Head eventually settles to a thick film layer surface coating along with a thick ring lining the inside of the glass and decent lacing. Aromas of some bready malts and grains and not much else. And that's quite fine here. Flavors of some bready malts and grains with a slight sweetness that linger on my palate in the after taste for a bit after each sip. A slight hop presence is noticeable here too for my palate. Has a crisp, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate to heavy carbonation. Slightly prickly/bubbly mouthfeel too from the carbonation. Has a clean finish. Easy to drink in the good type of beer a beer like this ought to be. Although this style of beer is far from my favorite and I usually don't go out of my way to drink this style of beer, this is among the best of this style of beer I've ever had. Nice and refreshing on a warm mid spring night here in Cleveland, OH. Worth a try for sure.

nice AAL drank from the can and poured. Pours golden with very little head, fizzy to the tongue with some sweetness, not as sweet as a banquet, but on the road to it. overall a good adjunct, better than some, but still in that league

16oz can, No BBF or canned on date. Purchased a single at Total Wine. The bottom of the can says A126 15 07:38, whatever that means.
5.0% ABV, 12 IBU.
Pours out to a sparkingly clear medium golden, forming a modest white head with poor retention, quickly receding to a thin layer of bubbles. Below average lacing. Carbonation is moderate brisk, ~3.0 carbs or so. The nose is totally unremarkable, there is nothing going on here other than a vague beer smell, no distinct grain or hop aroma, but also no off aromas of DMS/oxidation/fusels/diacetyl. Maybe a faint whiff of dust, hay, corn, and a very faint caramelized sugar. The mouthfeel is watery, crisp, clean and very light bodied. The taste here is also unremarkable, some hay, perhaps a little corn, no hop flavor, a little wisp of malt, watery. This is probably the closest beer I've had to seltzer water, so I'm surprised it has any alcohol in it. Extremely mild bitterness and finishes dry with no aftertaste. That being said, while this beer has very little flavor, it's not offensive like other beers in it's class like your Bud/Miller/Coors products, which makes it quite crushable. It's so inoffensive, I could see myself drinking several of these after doing yard work, hanging at the beach, or at a cookout.
An engineering marvel. A beer that has so very little taste that it's patently inoffensive, which is a hard thing to pull off when you brew an American adjunct lager. If I want something watery, crushable, that packs a buzz and goes well with the beach or a cookout, I'll happily grab this over any other adjunct lager on the shelf.

Presentation: 16 ounce can poured into a pint glass. Purchased from Total Wine & More.
Look: pale golden color. Frothy 3 finger foam head that lingers longer than expected. Minor amount of lacing.
Smell: notes of grains and apple mostly. Faint hops aroma. The smell is pleasant.
Taste: grains, mowed grass, and floral hops. The taste is straightforward and not complex. There is also a funky aftertaste which I’d describe as slightly metallic and bitter.
Feel: light bodied. Bubbly and sometcreamy mouthfeel. Slightly above average carbonation.
Overall. This beer is a bit better than the average American adjunct lager. Having lived on the West Coast my whole life, I have rarely ever seen this beer before, but I am aware that it is quite popular in the Northeast. I imagine it is one of those regional lagers that has a cult like following, which keeps it popular, even though there is nothing particularly special about it. It is quite drinkable, and you can taste the hops, so that is a plus, but there is a weird aftertaste, which maybe takes some getting used to. I would not go out of my way to buy this beer again, but it is completely drinkable, and worth trying if you run across it, but it’s not a must have.

Lightly grainy, a touch of corn and biscuit and nondescript hops. Sweet on the finish, moderate to high carb, refreshing mouthfeel. Not watery or unbalanced. Wouldn’t think twice about grabbing it as an after work beer.

Appearance: Darker yellow gold. Pours with a two finger foam head and light retention.
Aroma: Corn and biscuits. Simple, but a bit fuller than the more neutral beers in this lane.
Taste: Fairly straightforward, but with a little more weight than the average AAL. The profile stays in the expected lane overall, then moves into a bread like finish with a bit of lingering sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Heavier than expected for the style, landing on the heavier side of light body. Carbonation felt moderate.
Overall: Straightforward beer, but with a little more presence than a lot of AALs. The added weight, bread like finish, and lingering sweetness give it some identity, while still keeping it easy to drink. Simple overall, but reasonably well put together.

Beautiful color and medium grainy aroma of the bat. Some criticize this for its heavier feel, but I like it. Nice head out of the pint can. Taste is grainy as well, not much sweetness and a satisfying slight bitterness. Carbonation is good.

Pours a nice dark yellow color with a good head, but minimal smell. The first taste is slightly sweet, then a little malt flavor, then nothing, especially no hops. There's just not much here.
UPDATE: I got a fresher single at my local party store, and it was better than the staler can I had first received. It reminds me of Stroh's but with a bit better flavor. A good AAL, but it's still very expensive in my area.

After six decades on God's green earth I imbibed in my first, then second Narragansett Lager. As recommended by Matt "Money" Smith on Fox Sports Radio LA, I could not pass up my local family owned pizza shop's beer of the week - Narragansett Lager in a 12 ounce can for the fine sum of $2.00 USD each.
This beer pairs excellent with a garlic and oil based white sauced pizza with cheese and sausage. Extremely drinkable with a meal, I enjoyed every gulp. I look forward to my next Narragansett Lager.

Drinking out of a small snifter.
Pours a clear gold with a full head.
Smells some of mown grass.
Medicare mouth feel.
Hints of malt, mown grass, funk in the taste.
Better than most common lagers, but not really much to write home about.

12 oz can. Solid american lager. Pours a bright gold with a big tight white head. Hops in the nose and flavors of grass and hops with a crisp dry mouthfeel. Eminently drinkable.

Sorry Gansett fans, but I just didn't care for this beer at all.
Poured a deep yellow. Bronze hued color.
Short head that once gone, gave this beer the apperance of a creme (vanilla) soda.
No nose other than a very light fragrance of mixed fruit.
Light body. Tasted mostly of alcohol. The malt was almost unrecognizable and the hops were overly harsh and bitter. Tasted of hop extract.
Would not buy again. Would place this in my top 10 list of worst beers tried.
