July 2nd, 2015 - Saisons are in season, and Breckenridge's is a lovely dose of that fresh farmhouse flavor, with a more floral edge than most. The color is a gorgeous golden color with just a faint head on top, and strawberry and apple on the nose. It's the flavor that astounds, though. Slightly weedy, slightly hoppy, and slightly sweet, it is a surprising version of the style. It is also more viscous than I expected, coming across as a more herbal San Diego style IPA than a saison. And that floral component appears as the beer warms, offering some jasmine in the taste.
