Notes via stream of consciousness: Blueberry and acai, eh? I'm not even sure what acai is other than being a healthy berry. It's poured a clear light gold color beneath a short head of white foam. The label states that it's made with natural flavors and elderberry color. Interesting. It has a unique smell to it but I can't figure out what it is. It's got sweetish, grainy malt and a whiff of blueberry, so maybe that's the acai? I have no idea because I've never tasted or smelled one. Maybe I should. On to the flavor... it's very much like the aroma. I get the sweetish and grainy malt upfront, immediately followed by the fruitiness where I recognize the blueberry, and then the acai in the finish. It's really quite odd to be honest. It has an almost chocolate note to it. Was that what I was smelling? I don't think that I could tell at this point as it's all over my palate but it might have been. After that's passed there's a pleasant, lingering fruitiness that's sometimes like blueberry and sometimes more like black raspberry. It's a fairly light beer overall, and we're not talking about intense flavors, but everything is clear. It's mildly bitter, and the sweetness tends to stick a little bit, but it fades well before you're ready to take another sip - unless you're slamming it because it's hot out and you're thirsty, which would be perfectly fine at just 3.5% ABV. So I'm not really sure of what to say about this. The chocolate note is a little weird, and yet it also fits perfectly with the blueberry. It's kind of like a chocolate covered raisin except it's in liquid and not nearly as rich. I kind of like it. I had to get used to it, but now I'm thinking it's kind of cool. Of course there's not a lot going on here beyond that, and even that's kind of limited, so it's really a bit of a one-trick-pony kind of a thing. I'd certainly be willing to forgive that on a hot day though. I'll say that it's probably worth trying just to see.

p.s. ~ I see now that this is not intended as a summer beer at all, but a low calorie, electrolyte infused ale. I can live with that, but to be honest I'm not really inspired. If I'm going to go for healthy I'll just skip the beer. I thought it was a nice little treat though.

This reminded me A LOT of macro light beer. I only say that because I know something like this can be made to taste great. The fruit doesn't shine, feels super watery. It's pretty cheap though. If Breck was good before they were bought by AB I'll never know.

Not much going on with this beer. Honestly i was very unimpressed and wouldnt buy this again. I drank the one but the flavor is lacking and i would rather have had no beer. The berry wasn't super noticable and it wasnt pleasant. Light craft beer just shouldn't exist in my opinion, if you have to sacrifice so much flavor to do so.

a low alcohol and low calorie golden ale with blueberry and acai. i hate that everyone has to make a low calorie beer now, but this one is ahead of the curve a little bit, and i am finding this sort of thing likes fruit a lot better than it likes hops, at least in my experience, and this is just light and drinkable without really missing anything the way the hoppy ones always seem to be. clear from the tap, light on the grain, which is to be expected, and with a nose of cooked berries, not artificial, but not off the bush either, blueberry is identifiable more in the taste than the aroma, like pie filling at a diner, but not overly sweet. its the first and last thing i taste, but its not as cheap tasting as im making it sound. there is a light lingering metallic thing, but it doesnt stay long. the fruit isnt so heavily dosed that it makes this one dimensional, so while its not amazing, its also a bit better than i expected it to be, doesnt seem watery either, light as it is, the high carbonation saves it there. if these have to exist, and it seems like they do, this will be the direction they go and succeed in i think, with fruit flavors that compete with seltzer a little better than hops seem to. this will be better in the summer than it is in the winter, if they keep it going. not bad for what it is.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden color with a tint of reddishness and a one finger head of white foam. The head fades super quick and leave no lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is heavy of a acai berry smell with smells of a cracker malt and some blueberry. Along with these smells comes a little bit of hay and some light grain.
Taste – The taste begins with a crisp cracker malt flavor with a little bit of fruitiness of an acai and blueberry sweetness. Along with these tastes comes a light flavor of caramel and a touch of hay. As the taste advances some flavors of fruit grow stronger all while the hay and some grassy tastes grow stronger. These flavors take the taste to the end and leaves one with a crisp and lightly sweetened dark fruited light beer taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is very light and crisp with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the low abv. and the fruit flavors the feel is awesome and makes for a super easy drinker.
Overall – This is a very tasty light brew with a nice blend of crispness, fruitiness, and easy drinking feel. A nice summer style session brew.
