Black . Thin, beige head. Raisins and roasted malt in an almost vinous aroma. Same notes in a rather sweet taste. Moderate, roasted bitterness at the end.

i really wanted to like this more, i dig the idea, one of the only eclipse beers i know of that was thought of far enough out to be able to be barrel aged, nice thinking guys! there is some weird tang to this though, some off flavor from the barrel maybe, that disrupts the nice chocolatey roasty richness they seemingly worked so hard to establish. there is nice body to this, some layers in the malt, toffee and coffee and burnt wood, but this light astringency comes up right in the middle, and its a distraction for me before the bourbon character ever sets in. some vanilla and dried fruit, raisins or plums or something in the finish, some nice charred oak thats nice with the malts, but the feel is just off because of the weird astringent aspect. without that, i could see this being excellent, but once i picked up on it was all i could think about. long finish with some nice roasty bitterness, there is a lot of potential here, but the execution isnt as polished as it should have been. sometimes things get weird in barrels, not sure if thats what went wrong here or not, just my best guess...
