Swing-top growler picked up one week earlier from the BrewFarm. Tasted 29 September 2012, reviewed from notes.

Pours orangey yellow, mostly clear but with a little haze, especially from the bottom of the growler. About one finger of white head. Nice retention and lacing.

Smell is a mix of lager yeast and a nice juicy citrus smell. Sorta like orange juice without the acidity or bite. A little spice as well.

Taste is quite spicy. Not sure if that's coming from the Citra hops or something in the malts, but I like it. Mellow and clean, but with a really nice hop zing.

Mouthfeel is light-bodied, smooth, good carbonation.

Just a really nice, really flavorful, well-balanced, clean beer. One of those beers you sip and think, wow, that's really tasty. A really good, unexpected beer.

Boldly darkened goldenrod with a touch of cinnamon brown to its musty glow. A largely stacked bone white foam sits atop with might and remains the day before gradually slipping down to a very heavy skim and good amounts of lace sticking about in some globby thick strings.

Aroma is all about that wonderful Citra hop! Boldly set in a fresh and clean display that brings in nicely rounded orange juice tones with fluffy touches to peach and nectarine. Bits of floral weedyness is drawn in as well once it warms up a bit.

Flavor has a nice smooth, crisp hoppy bite to it that's made up mostly of a dullish orange spritzyness dashed with a bit of melon sweetness and peach and/or nectarine fuzz. Very clean and balanced like a great Pale ale but done in a lager style that holds together very well with the faintest of faint pale bready sweet malt background. There's also a unique, yet substantially subtle drying effect that fades wonderfully across the palate with a hop-sided weedyness of balanced bittering.

Nearly medium bodied with a smooth undercarriage of sweetness that lets the Citra hops do their thing with some good pep and flavor profile. Quite mellow overall, and yes, lager-like. Very yummy and down right drinkable! One tasty, well done treat from the "Labrewatory"!
