from the label on the can--
"Crisp, light, and straw-coloured, this Japanese Rice Lager is brewed with sushi rice for a smooth, refreshing finish. A hint of spice and floral vibes from Noble hops make it the perfect sushi sidekick -- or just crack one open whenever you're feeling thirsty! Kanpai !"

Since I added the beer and the brewer's description, I'll comment on that: well-written, but not entirely good advice. Drink Mai with food, but not for refreshment.

Mai pairs well with mild foods; I did have this with sushi and I could imagine that I tasted the sushi rice. Mai Looks slightly above average because many rice lagers look sickly. Mai Smells like average; I didn't get much of the hop notes that the brewer claimed were in it. Tastes were balanced, but mostly because it made no effort to be different. (But that is also why it pairs well with a bland California Roll sushi.) Almost medium-mouthed in a light style.

My first from Sonoma Springs, I went on their limited website. I do like how they position themselves as a beer crafter in "the heart of Wine country." And their taproom has the feel of a winery. They seem to focus their portfolio in German lagers, IPAs and barrel-aging. But since they started in 2008, I was expecting more for a website and what motivates them. Nonetheless given their locale, I have to give them very good Overall Hugs.
