What you'd expect from a Bay Area Bock: malty, but the hops seize the finish... nicely.
Bock The Walk Looks only slightly above the style's average: it could use more foam retention. Smells are mostly malt, arguably caramel and flavourful bread, like rye or maybe pumpernickel. Tastes are balanced, until the finish when the hops leave their imprint and linger. But this is the West Coast, so hops are what the market wants. Not quite medium-mouthed in this soft style.
My third from Sonoma Springs, they have a somewhat diverse portfolio and are competent brewers... but not particularly ambitious in that they are pushing 18 years and still have limited distribution. In the heart of wine country, Sonoma Springs has heart.
