473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $3.35 CDN.

Appearance - Hazy mango colored beer with two fingers of exceptionally white head. Very good staying power and some sparse spotty lacing that appears at the rim.

Smell - Nose is pretty light with mango and passionfruit leading the way, some other overripe fruits in the nose. Sort of one dimensional, but the one dimension is pretty solid.

Taste - Light mango flavors, some sweetness and mild amounts of bitterness. Not much intensity in any direction. Not bad just lacking the boldness that most IPA's have.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, sort of juicy, carbonation is on the lighter side in the mouth yet feels gassy in the tummy.

Overall - This is ok, but doesn't stand out as the flavors are muted, the bitterness is muted and the carbonation seems a little all over the place. Certainly decent enough but given the competition, this isn't likely to be a repeat purchase.

Hazy gold with a large loose head. Tropical, pithy hop nose. Medium malt body, fairly firm and biscuity. Good crispness. Ok but no need to revisit.

Pours a bit hazy with a nice golden hue. The smell is a bit fruity but more hoppy. The taste has hints of tropical fruit like mango and pineapple. The can says it contains passionfruit but that’s a taste I’m not familiar with so no
comment on its precence. Overall a nice fruity IPA

473 mL can from the LCBO; coded B16 1 (Feb 16 2021) and served slightly chilled. Billed as an east coast IPA with mango and passionfruit.

Pours a cloudy, translucent golden-yellow colour, with more than two fingers of fluffy, foamy white head erupting from the surface. It fades away within the next several minutes or so, caking the glass with a glorious coat of webby lacing as it's reduced to a bubbly collar and thin cap. Looks great, but it's not especially aromatic - I'm getting light hints of mango and citrus, along with grainy, wheaty malts and passionfruit.

It's not bad - I'm getting mango, grapefruit, orange and passion fruit, underlain by some wheaty, bready pale malts and fruit cup sweetness. Its bitterness is mild - only a grassy, pithy note at the back end of the sip, followed up by a fruity aftertaste with more citrus, passionfruit and mango. On the heftier side of medium-bodied, with middling carbonation levels that provide a little bit of crispness to this brew's generally soft, smooth texture. Easy drinking, with little to no sign of the 6.3%.

Final Grade: 3.6, a passable B grade. I finished off my glass of Misfit without a fuss, but it wasn't the most satisfying IPA I've tried lately. It delivers what it says on the tin - a mid-strength pale ale with mango and passionfruit - but all of the flavours are just cobbled together into an incoherent, fruity muddle that is neither particularly interesting nor satisfying. While it's not the worst Hop City beer I've ever had, I wouldn't say it's one of their better ones, either - for instance, I'd take their Hop Bot over this one any day of the week. Tick it if you're intrigued, or if you have a real passion for tropical fruit-infused IPAs.
