Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours pitch black with a thin light brown head that persists in patches leaving light lacing. Aroma of sweet toasted malt, cocoa, light vanilla and coffee and a hint of char. Flavor is moderate toasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, licorice and light bourbon, finishing with nicely charred malt and bittersweet chocolate with hints of grassy hops. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Excellent Russian imperial stout flavors of toasted malt with complex supporting flavors and nicely charred malt and hop finish. The malt flavor is somewhat subdued, but this stout makes up for it in a quite nice balance. The whiskey barrel influence is very subdued, showing up lightly in the finish; and possibly the only thing I'd enhance in this otherwise well integrated stout. Well done and flavorful.
