I CAN't quite understand what happened WRT this beer! I am certain that I drank & reviewed it on 18 August 2016 & yet every record seems to have disappeared into the ether. Hmm. Yeah, there are times that The CANQuest (tm) & this site are at logger (lager) heads & this is one of them!
From the CAN: "The Way Apple Ale Is Meant To Be."; "Smooth-Brewed, Full-Bodied refreshing Crisp Apple Ale with sweet, delicious Crisp Red Apple flavor. Brewed like beer using special brewers' yeast. A true Apple Ale."
I gotta admit, I was mighty pissed when it came time to Crack! open this massive 23.5-fl. oz. CAN. I took out some of my anger & frustration in the form of a heavy-handed aggro Glug. This resulted in the formation of a brief finger of fizzy, foamy, soapy, bone-white head with lousy retention, quickly falling to wisps. Color was a solid-Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled like the finest Jolly Rancher apples that a chem lab could produce. 8=p Mouthfeel was thin & watery. The taste was apple-like, but imprecise, like a photocopy of a photocopy. It had a light tartness that caused me to wonder what the Green Apple version was going to hold in store for me. It just did not taste quite like red apples. Or maybe slightly fermented red apples. Like when the kids don't want their apple slices at lunch & they sit out until some hungry, enterprising soul grabs them & eats them later. 8=( Waste not, want not, I say, but it does not always pay. Man, this just tasted off or wrong. I am SO irritated at having to go through this for a seCANd time! Finish was tart, dry, unamusing & a waste of time. Bah! YMMV.

The can states United Brands, Lacrosse, WI and Memphis, TN. The website says this is the brewer. This leads me to believe it is being contract brewed by City B.C., which has breweries in both of those cities.
Poured from a 23.5 oz. can. Has a dark golden/copper color with a small head that quickly disappears. Smell reminds me of apple cider. Taste is apples, somewhat tart, very light sweetness, no alcohol. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall this beer exceeded my expectations. I haven't heard from this brewery since I bought their Stack beer once for myself, and a couple of other times as a gag (literally) gift for friends, that was over 7 years ago.
