The creamy light brown head sits atop a deep ruby-amber colored brew. The aroma has an interesting mix of chocolate, diacetyl (though very light, and stylistically allowable), and a note of roasted malt/ roasted espresso that finishes the aroma off. The beer is creamy and light on the palate with fruity notes of raisin and caramel at first evident on my tongue. The finish is characterized by a light bitterness and a bit of astringent roast malt character. Both of these finishing notes are light and on par with the rest of the beer. There is a note of buttery diacetyl here in the taste, but it is faint and note out of place in this beer. Plus I am very sensitive to it, and I don't think that it is distracting. As I work my way through the pint a fine Belgian lace forms on the side of the glass. This is a really ice mild, full of character, yet light and quaffable. I really like how the chocolate notes interplay with the soft fruity character of this beer.
